“A Spiritual Home
for Heavenly Bound Souls” |
|
A Brief History
The
year was 1993 when Edward and Jennifer dreamed of purchasing a home in
the Matthews-Mint Hill area. We were attracted to the area largely due
to our work locations at the time. However, this area like so many areas
surrounding Charlotte that did not have a Church of Christ congregation.
Thus the pursuit of their dreams started.
They
concluded that where ever they were to purchase a home, it would be in
an area that did not have a local Church of Christ congregation, and they
would duplicate the efforts of the brothers and sisters of bible days
in Acts 8:4; going out preaching and teaching the Word of God, and establishing
the Church in a new location. This became their mission.

It was in the summer of 1994 when the dream was shared with Michael Evans
and the excitement started to grow. In June of 1995, Brother Evans and
Brother Riley started canvassing the town of Cornelius and introducing
the Church of Christ to the residents there. Before long it was time to
have the first worship service of the Church of Christ in the town of
Cornelius, North Carolina.
The
first worship service was held January 14, 1996, with twenty four souls
in attendance. The congregation met at the Holiday Inn at Interstate 77
& exit 28. After a few moves to improve the efforts to serve the community
and the growth, the Lord led the congregation to our present location
in the Thomasboro Community. |
